Baby Size Compared to a Fruit...Week 17

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

17 Weeks

How far along? 17 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? About 9.5 - 12 lbs. I am not really sure. I had gained 9.5 lbs at my last dr. appt about 2 weeks ago.
Maternity cloths? Yep...maternity pants. I think I might be needing maternity shirts very soon. Things are starting to get a little tight and riding up a bit.
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep? I have been extremely exhausted lately. I can barely keep my eyes opened past 7pm.
Best moment last week? Having an u/s, not under the best circumstances but it was confirmed she was a girl.
Movement? Movement is beginning to feel like kicks. It feels like she is kicking my stomach.
Food cravings? Nothing really
Gender? A little girl
Labor signs? What felt like Braxton Hicks, went to the emergency room and it turned out I was dehydrated.
Belly button in or out? In
What I miss? Fitting into my clothes.
What I am looking forward to? Nothing to do with being pregnant but having my sis come out for my birthday next week.
Milestones?

Little Emergency Room Visit

I have been having what feel like contractions, Braxton Hicks, since Tues. night. They started about 5pm and lasted until I went to bed, averaging one every 10 mins or so. I woke up Wed. morning and they were gone. Then last night they started again about 5 and were consistently 10 mins apart. I started getting a little nervous because I heard more than 4-6 an hour were not good. We decided to go to the ER. I felt like an idiot going because they were probably nothing. The staff and nurses assured me, it was better safe than sorry and it was good I came in. They ordered all sorts of tests, blood, urine and an u/s. After all was said and done, turns out I was dehydrated...figures. I did not surprise me. Everything looked great with our little girl and she is measuring right on schedule. They even confirmed that she was a girl for us. HaHa. I have to say the worst part of the evening was having a catheter. The doctor wanted a clean specimen of urine. I was so scared of this. Because Richard has only had bad experiences with catheters, I figured mine would be horrible too. Really not that bad, it felt like I had a bladder infection.
